Carneys Point, NJ. - The Salem Community College baseball team put together one of its most complete performances of the season, sweeping a three-game Region 19 series against Atlantic Cape Community College by scores of 12-2, 13-7, and 15-5. With the sweep, the Mighty Oaks improve to 9-13 overall and continue to build momentum in Region 19 play.
Game One: Strong Pitching, Aggressive Baserunning Fuel 12-2 Win
Salem set the tone early in game one behind dominant pitching and relentless pressure on the basepaths.
Joe Pallante earned the win, improving to 2-1, tossing 6.2 innings while allowing just two runs (zero earned) and striking out six. Louie Rivera closed the door with 1.1 scoreless innings in relief.
At the plate, Cliff Wysinger led the offense with two hits and three RBI, including a triple. Roman Hernandez added two hits and an RBI, while Tyler Hacker contributed a double and drove in a run.
Salem's aggressive baserunning proved to be a major factor, as the Mighty Oaks stole multiple bases across the lineup, including four from Hacker and three from Aidan Nestor, constantly putting pressure on the Atlantic Cape defense.
Game Two: Hacker Hits for the Cycle in 13-7 Victory
The highlight of the series came in game two, as Tyler Hacker delivered a historic performance, hitting for the cycle to power Salem to a 13-7 win.
Hacker finished 4-for-5 with a home run, triple, double, and single, driving in three runs and scoring three times in a dominant showing.
The offense continued to shine across the board, with Jason LeBold going 4-for-5 with two runs scored, and Rocco String adding two hits and two RBI. Cliff Wysinger and JJ Pankowski each drove in runs as Salem piled up 15 hits.
On the mound, Mike Valente picked up the win (1-1), going five innings, while Logan Peters provided solid relief to secure the victory.
Game Three: Offensive Explosion Completes the Sweep, 15-5
The Mighty Oaks capped off the sweep with another offensive outburst, collecting 15 runs on 15 hits in a 15-5 victory.
JJ Pankowski led the way with three hits and three RBI, including a triple, while Jason LeBold continued his hot series, going 3-for-3 with three runs scored and two RBI. Louie Rivera added three hits and two RBI, and Jacob Sharrow contributed two hits and two RBI.
Jay Barber chipped in with a two-RBI double, and Salem once again showcased its depth, drawing 12 walks to keep constant pressure on Atlantic Cape pitching.
On the mound, Andre Stewart improved to 3-0, allowing just one earned run over five innings, while Joe D'Amato finished the game in relief.
The Mighty Oaks return to action with a two-game Region 19 series against Delaware County Community College. Salem will travel to DCCC on Tuesday, March 24, before hosting on Wednesday, March 25. Both games are scheduled for 3:30 PM.
